The"BLUE FLAG Tohoku Symposium in Minamisanriku"will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, themed around the international environmental certification "Blue Flag."
Blue Flag is the world's oldest international environmental certification scheme. Out of the 12 certified swimming beaches in Japan, 5 are located in the Tohoku region. At this event, mayors from three Tohoku regions and domestic and international experts will gather to discuss the appeal and potential of the ocean, as well as future regional development.

Simultaneous & Related Programs
■ Blue Flag Achievement Exhibition Booth
Set up inside the symposium venue to introduce initiatives and corporate exhibitions related to Blue Flag activities and tourism promotion in certified regions.
■ Day 2: Excursion (Held on October 17)
The day after the symposium, a tour will be held to experience the charm of Tohoku's ocean and local communities on-site.
・Course A: Tour exploring Minamisanriku Town
・Course B: Tour exploring Rikuzentakata City
