Over two days, July 14 and 15, JARTA participated in the "2nd Global Nature Positive Summit 2026" held in Kumamoto!
The venue brought together a diverse group of guests from Japan and abroad, spanning business, finance, governance, and more. It was an inspiring experience filled with the sharing of cutting-edge initiatives and passionate insights.
What is "Nature Positive"?
"Nature Positive" is a term we've been hearing frequently lately. Simply put, it is an initiative to "halt and reverse nature loss, putting biodiversity and ecosystem richness on a path to recovery for the future."
This is also highlighted as a core target of the "Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework," adopted at the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the Convention on Biological Diversity held in 2020.
Toward a Future Where Society and Nature Coexist
In our daily lives, we naturally enjoy the rich blessings of nature, such as food, water, clean air, and climate stability.
At the same time, the burden placed on nature by human activity is steadily increasing, and the global environment is at an unprecedented turning point. These impacts are also beginning to cast shadows on our everyday lives.
That is why, rather than simply "protecting nature," we must properly reevaluate its finite value and discuss how to build afuture where society and nature can coexist in prosperity.This new form of coexistence was actively debated at the summit.
which showcased the latest examples and fostered collaboration under the theme of "technology utilization and resilience to halt nature loss and drive regeneration."
Changing the Future, Starting with Small Steps
While it is true that our society's development has placed a heavy burden on the natural environment, the situation facing our planet is far from hopeless.
However, as depicted in the short film released during the event (which can be viewed at the bottom of this page), there is genuine hope:"We still have a chance to turn back,"and "each individual's awareness is higher than ever before."
